Albuquerque Cop Watch

FRIDAY Oct 22, 2010 -- Albuquerque Cop Watch will hold a rally at 3:30 PM at 4th and Roma. The Answer Coalition, Vecinos United, Young Women United and the ABQ Copwatch will be organizing this rally. Many of the familiy members who have lost loves one this year will be there to speak.

Below are some of our speaking points that they will mention to the media so that we have a consistent flow:

1. We want the APD to be held accountable for their actions. Give the police oversight commission a back bone. 

How: We want the P.O.C to have firing power not just recommendation power. We want the people of ABQ to be able to vote for who is on the commission instead of the Mayor choosing who is on the committee. 

 

2. We want to Show the collective grief of the families who have lost loved ones. We also want to show the collective pain and anger the community has been objected to because of the APD . 

How: The families who have lost their loved ones will speak and share their pain. Stop Vilifying the victims of police murders! More Cops=More Murders Per Capita.

 

3.Get publicity for Copwatch, Vecinos United and the Answer Coalition. It’s not a crime to be black, indigenous, or latino/a.

How: Talk about people rights! Read Copwatch Goals. Mention that we are creating a way to keep the cops accountable because the city has not. The APD is ABQ’S biggest Gang!

 

4. Publicize the Kenneth Guy Ellis the III BillHow- This Bill will make it mandatory for all of the APD to get Crisis Intervention Training (C.I.T)
